The adrenaline level is rising, the karts are jostling for the Wii U starting line. The starting flag is finally lowered for Mario Kart 8: The latest part of the cult racing game series lets the crazy karts whiz around the track in brilliant HD for the first time. But that's not all: the anti-gravity function allows you to drive upside down or vertically along the wall. A total of 32 tracks - 16 revised classics and 16 completely new tracks - are waiting to be driven.

New and familiar heroes are already waiting in the pit lane: players can take on the roles of Metal Mario, Lakitu and Shy Guy, among others, who have already appeared in previous Mario Kart games. For the first time, the cheeky seven companions of arch-villain Bowser are included as playable characters.

New items also expand the unique arsenal of fun: The piranha plant snaps at other characters, banana peels or turtle shells that opponents throw. Or the boomerang plant: whoever gets hold of it can incapacitate several opponents with one boomerang throw.

Wii U fans can also look forward to many of the series' indispensable features: online races with up to twelve players and races in the living room with up to four friends are possible.

Mario Kart TV is also new and outstanding: The highlights from each race are automatically recorded, can be individually edited and then shared via YouTube and Miiverse. This creates very personal racing videos of the best Mario Kart moments. 3-2-1 go!
